MCDRRMO Responders Complete Basic Life Support Training with PCG

Members of the Mandaue City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MCDRRMO) took part in a Basic Life Support (BLS) Training with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at The Mark Resort & Spa in Lapu-Lapu City on Friday, Oct. 16.

The training is part of the office's ongoing efforts to strengthen its responders' knowledge and skills in rescue, first aid, and life-saving during emergencies.

More than 40 MCDRRMO trainees joined the session, which was led by PCG members. They were taught the proper way to give immediate medical help to victims in distress.

On the second day, the trainees showed what they learned through an actual demonstration of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) using a training manikin. This allowed them to show their understanding and skills in applying the lessons from the training.

The training aims to make sure responders don't just learn the theory but also sharpen their hands-on skills, so they are better prepared to respond to emergencies and give timely help to those in need.

After the demonstrations, a short graduation ceremony was held for the participants who completed the training.

The MCDRRMO's capacity-building activities continue on Oct. 17 with a Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Training, to improve their skills in finding and rescuing people during floods, storms, and maritime emergencies.
