Duterte was also asked about a former president's appearance related to a "status conference," which she said came as a last-minute decision made after consultation with legal counsel. She clarified that she was not surprised by the development, explaining that status conferences typically require the presence of respondents, and noted that some of those involved had reportedly not yet been seen publicly before that point.
On the matter of lowering the voting threshold for impeachment under the Constitution, Duterte declined to give a direct comment, saying she wanted to defer to her legal team's designated spokesperson, citing concerns that anything she said publicly could complicate matters her lawyers may be handling strategically.
She also confirmed hearing that Attorney Vic Rodriguez had reportedly filed a petition with the Supreme Court, though she said she had not yet read the petition herself and would wait for her defense team's official comment on the matter.
