VP Sara Duterte Questions Purported Laos Travel Document, Says It Appears Fabricated

Vice President Sara Z. Duterte said on October 20, 2026 that the government appears to be shifting its narrative against her, now reframing the matter as a national security issue.

In her statement, the Vice President said the House of Representatives prosecution team failed to establish a convincing case of an impeachable offense. She said every thread is now being "stretched into a conspiracy," citing a business venture allegedly linked to Chinese funding and a drug bust in Laos supposedly connected to a Mindanao-Davao conspiracy.

Duterte asked what evidence the government has to support these accusations. She said none has been convincingly presented.

She also pointed to a purported travel authority for Laos, which she said appears to have been fabricated to prop up a narrative unsupported by credible evidence. According to her, the Office of the President never confirmed the document on September 29, 2026, and has always made it a point to announce her foreign travels.

The Vice President closed by saying the government should "start working and stop politicking," adding that the people are impoverished, hungry, and angry.
