Tulfo Denies Senators Are Already Talking About Speaker Dy Replacing VP Sara
Sen. Erwin Tulfo denied that senators are already discussing the possibility that House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III would replace Vice President Sara Duterte if she is convicted in the impeachment trial.
According to Tulfo, the senator-judges have not yet announced their positions, so the Senate's eventual decision should not be preempted.
In an interview, Tulfo was asked about online reports on the matter. He said he did not know where the claim came from and could not understand how anyone could be sure the Senate would impeach the Vice President when no decision had been made. He added that the Speaker's name had not come up among them, and that the media may have been the source.
Tulfo also commented on complaints that the articles of impeachment were reduced to one. He said this could favor the defense, since there would be only one article to defend instead of three or four. For those complaining that it is unfair, he said the defense now has just one article to answer.
