LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Lapu-Lapu City is preparing to host the 80th ASEAN Working Group on Intellectual Property Cooperation (AWGIPC) and related meetings, scheduled for November 2026.
Mayor Cindi King Chan met with representatives of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) and partner agencies to discuss the preparations. The IPOPHL delegation was led by Deputy Director General Atty. Nathaniel S. Arevalo.
The gathering will bring together delegates and representatives from across the region. This places the city once again at the center of important discussions on intellectual property cooperation among ASEAN member states, according to the mayor.
"We are honored to welcome this regional gathering and are committed to working closely with IPOPHL and our partner agencies to help ensure its successful and secure conduct," said Mayor Cindi King Chan.
She added that hosting meetings of this scale reflects the city's growing capacity to accommodate international engagements. It also strengthens Lapu-Lapu's position as a destination for business and regional cooperation.
"Padayon ang paglambo sa atong dakbayan as we welcome opportunities that build partnerships and contribute to our city's continued development," the mayor said.
