Marcos: Teaching Is a Vocation, Gov't Duty to Support Teachers
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. highlighted the important role of teachers in improving the quality of education and preparing Filipino children for the future. According to the release, he said it is the duty of the government to make sure teachers have enough support, training, and opportunities so they can keep growing in their vocation.
"Teaching is not a job. Teaching is a vocation. And the least that we in government can do is to support you in that vocation; to make you more professional; to make you more knowledgeable; to keep you learning as well about the new techniques, the new ways and the new strategies in which we can teach our children."
During the National Teachers' Month 2026 celebration, outstanding teachers were recognized at the first-ever TEC Teachers Awards, along with scholars in teacher education. The Teacher Education Roadmap 2035, Teacher Education Centers of Excellence, scholarship programs, and MyTEC also continue to be pushed to strengthen teacher preparation and professional development.
According to the President, teachers remain important amid fast changes in technology and artificial intelligence, as they help students become analytical, able to tell what is right and valuable, responsible in their decisions, and caring toward others.
