PAGASA: Rain Continues Over Visayas, Mindanao Due to ITCZ, Saturated Soil Raises Flood Risk

PAGASA: ITCZ Brings Rain to Visayas, Mindanao; Flood, Landslide Warning Issued

PAGASA's 5 AM weather update on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, reported that a large part of the country will experience rain today due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

PAGASA said there are two weather systems currently affecting the country: the ITCZ, which is affecting Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao, and a northeasterly windflow, which is affecting Extreme Northern Luzon. PAGASA confirmed there is currently no storm or low pressure area being monitored within or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Visayas and Mindanao: rain from ITCZ, flood and landslide risk

PAGASA said the entire Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain due to the ITCZ. PAGASA advised caution for residents in these areas, as rains in recent days have already saturated the soil, raising the risk of flooding and landslides. The public was encouraged to coordinate with their local government units regarding any necessary evacuation.

Temperatures today will range from 25 to 33°C in the Kalayaan Islands and Puerto Princesa, 25 to 31°C in Iloilo and Cebu, 26 to 33°C in Tacloban, 25 to 32°C in Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga, and 25 to 33°C in Davao.

Rest of the country

In Luzon, the northeasterly windflow will bring cloudy skies with rain to Batanes and Cagayan. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will see generally fair weather, though PAGASA said hot and humid conditions are expected around midday to afternoon, with a high chance of localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. The public was advised to check PAGASA's social media pages and the Panahon app for thunderstorm advisories.

Temperatures today will range from 25 to 32°C in Metro Manila, 25 to 32°C in Laoag, 25 to 34°C in Tuguegarao, 17 to 24°C in Baguio, 22 to 31°C in Tagaytay, and 25 to 31°C in Legazpi.

Sea conditions

No gale warning is currently up in any seaboard of the country.

Sunrise and sunset

The sun will rise at 5:46 a.m. and set at 5:42 p.m. today.
