Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo "Jonkie" Ouano formally turned over a new school bus to the Mandaue City School for the Arts (MCSFA) on October 7.
The old bus, given during the time of former Mayor Teddy Ouano 23 years ago, was damaged and could no longer be used. Because of this, Mayor Jonkie decided to give the school a new one. The new bus will be used to bring and fetch students and performers who will showcase their talents in various competitions.
Answering the school's request
Mayor Jonkie granted the MCSFA's request for a school bus because of difficulty in transportation going to and from school. The bus offered by former Mayor Teddy in 2003 could no longer be used after it was hit by Typhoon Odette in December 2021.
MCSFA Principal (Secondary Department) Chyrrel Encontro and School Principal (Elementary Department) Dr. Liza Mae Baruc expressed their thanks for the new bus. They said it is a big help to students, as well as to teachers and parents, who no longer have to worry about their children struggling with transportation.
Mayor Jonkie hopes the school will make good use of the bus as a mode of transportation for its students and teachers.
Who attended
Joining the mayor at the turnover were City Councilor Atty. Joel Seno, City Administrator Atty. Sally Malig-on Jr., Executive Secretary Atty. Riczen Gingoyon, Public Information Office (PIO) Head Ryan Karl Tallo, Casili Barangay Captain Robert Santillana, and Department of Education (DepEd) Mandaue City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Bianito Dagatan.
