BREAKING: Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez Served With Arrest Warrant at Hospital
Authorities from the CIDG officially served an arrest warrant against former House Speaker Martin Romualdez at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City on Monday afternoon, Sept. 7.
The warrant stems from a P7.4-billion flood control plunder case filed by the Ombudsman against the congressman and three other individuals. Romualdez was hospitalized yesterday afternoon due to an alleged cardiovascular event, unstable blood pressure, and an anxiety attack. To comply with standard booking protocols, CIDG personnel required him to wear an orange shirt before taking his mugshot.
Meanwhile, the Sandiganbayan has ordered the arrest of former Representative Zaldy Co and two others in connection with the same charges.
The court recommended no bail for all the accused and issued a Hold Departure Order (HDO) to prevent them from leaving the country while legal proceedings move forward.
